Belondrade and the Quadruple lock of Castelnaudy

A Relaxing Doddle Day.

Today, we woke up and motored the last two kilometers to the last lock of the trip, the qaudruple lock into Castelnaudary. And it turned out to be pretty easy. Annie and Clare both stayed off the boat (after the first lock) and walked the bow and stern lines from one lock to the next.

Clare still on the boat at the first lock/level. After this picture, she got off and walked the line up.

At the top lock of 4.

Once through the locks, the trip was finished by crossing the large pond (lake) at Castelnaudary as seen in the opening picture (above).

After we docked on the far western side of the town, Clare talk a walk to inform the port captain we had arrived and establish the boat handover/return. She also went to see if she could find some new comfortable and dressier shoes for the Jules Verne restaurant we were going to the next day. She was getting sores on the sole of her feet which made walking difficult. She ended up buying some lacy white sneakers, which looked quite good.

We then went for a walk to check out the eateries along the docks for lunch.

The menu of the cafe we had chosen. All the items were quite fancy.

Clare had the hot goat cheese with honey and salad.

I had the Foie Gras again with duck gizzards and duck breast.

We pretty much rested the day away and went back into town for dinner.

On our way to dinner.

As this town was supposed to be the home of Cassoulet (or one of many towns claiming so), I wanted to try a Cassoulet. The restaurant that was the most recommended was already booked out, so we went to a restaurant calling itself the "Maison du Cassoulet" (home of Cassoulet). Turned out to be very ordinary and I was dissapointed. Oh well, such is life.

Clare had trouble sleeping at night and got up in the middle of the night to catch up on some work and took this shot. Beautiful and still.
