Carcassonne

Last day with Jim and Christine, but we didn't see them that much which was a shame. Jim decided to stay on the boat, I think he was catching up on work, while Clare, Annie, Christine and I went to look at the old fortified city and castle of Carcassone. Once we got there, Christine decided to go off on her own.

We decided to take the tourist train as it was the most convenient option to get to the walled city.

Lunch

We had lunch at the main food area in the old city and it was excellent. I had the second best version of cassoulet of the trip.

I Started of with Foie Gras (duck liver) on Melba toast and a salad with a glass of rose wine. The glass of white was from Clare, which I also drank as she wasn't keen on it.

Then the Cassoulet, which was excellent. With a nice glass of red

Finally, a Tart Tartin, which I think we shared (too much sugar for me alone). And I think the Red Bull was Annie's; I won't touch that stuff.

Man, that was a great lunch. I cannot recall what we did for dinner that night. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we had something simple because lunch was so big.
