Staggering

Mt. Fuji

Clare and I woke early to some really staggeringly good views of Mt. Fuji. Normally obscured by clouds and visible on rare days of good weather. Today was such a day. We quickly got dressed and made the long climb up to the Chureito Pagoda. Luckily we're lodged right next door to the shrine, but it was still a long climb to the top (400 stairs).

The climb up to the Chureito Pagoda.

A selfie. Just to prove these are our pictures and we actually did make it to the top. (so hard).

The actual Chureito Pagoda.

Alternative angle.

This is a popular shot taken during spring when the cherry blossums are in bloom.

This is the shrine at the bottom of the hill of the Chureito Pagoda.

The kids are still in bed and it's now 9:00am.

Kids are Awake

Well, everyone if finally up and we decide to go out. Conrad, Kim and Julie are going to spend the afternoon at Fuji Q Highland Park and Clare and I will travel the loop bus around the area to check out the tourist sites.

The loop bus didn't work out as planned. We didn't get on the Bus we wanted and when we got to the main tourist attraction there was (a period farm area), we missed the stop because we didn't recognise it. Eventually we got off the bus and then had to wait over an hour to get a return bus back to Mt. Fuji.

Dinner

We met back up with the kids at Mount Fuji Station and went in search of a dinner spot. We ended up at an Izakaya (a Japanese bar) and had dinner there. Most of us had the Wagyu, which was really good.
